PROJECT WORK FLOW

Below is a typical project workflow and milestone outline. Locations Global understands each client has different project guidelines. The workflow below is just an example of what you might expect when working with Locations Global. As stated above, each project has it's own workflow, we understand this and adjust accordingly.

REQUEST TO BID NEW PROJECT

Locations Global (LG), receive an email... or the phone rings in the office... or it is the mobile more often these days.

LG will take details over the phone and on agreeing to look at the job, the photographer, or his agents will send through the project brief.

LG STARTS BID PROCESS

On studying the needs of the shot, such as the location, models, props, styling, rather like the ingredients of a meal.

LG PROJECT BREAKDOWN

Locations Global first researches through its portfolio of locations.

LG LOCATION SEARCH

This is the first point to be agreed upon.

LG/LOCATIONS AGREED ON

MODELS CHOSEN

Once agreed, it is then decided where models will come from.

PRODUCTION COST – SPREAD SHEET AND APPROVAL

The costs for Hotel, transport, props, and the sauce are all put into their separate categories on a detailed spread sheet.

BID PACKAGE SENT TO AGENT – REVIEW AND APPROVE

This is sent off to the photographers agent who will go through the various points with Locations Global.

Once agreed, this is sent by the agent to the advertising agency for their approval.

AGENT APPROVED BID PACKAGE SENT TO AGENCY FOR APPROVAL

After a day or 2 when a positive reply comes back Bill or James will head off to the agreed location area to carry out the reconnoiter.

ON SITE SCOUT - GREEN LIGHT

LG TEAM OFF TO LOCATION FOR FINAL DETAIL LOCATION/SHOTS

This may be a city, mountains, desert, river, forest, house, pool.

ANNOTATED SHOTS TAKEN OF FINAL LOCATION

Shots of the locations with compass pointers are taken, notes made if extra lighting will be needed.

The logistics of hotels, nearest airports, shops for props will be noted.

LOGISTICS WORKED OUT FOR PRINCIPLE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT

Whilst the recce is in progress 50% of the budget is forwarded to Locations Global account.

50% OF PROJECT FUNDING GIVEN TO LG

A plan is then made for arrivals, pick ups, vehicles and equipment that will be needed. At this point, in some cases a heath, safety and risk assessment will be made and Hardhats, Vests and work boots will be ordered and distributed. From cranes to wet downs, to seats, and tables, and snacks and drinks, and of course a broom and a ladder.

FINISHED LOCKED DOWN LOGISTICS PLAN PUT IN PLACE

All approved dates are fixed and the job starts.

FINAL APPROVALS AND PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT GREEN LIGHT

The crew arrive, the clients sometimes arrive at the same time, often later.

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT TEAM ARRIVES

The job is carried out with efficiency with a close regard for the local community, and as much effort is made by Locations Global, that local customs, and culture be respected.

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT BEGINS

This is a very important aspect for Bill and is why he retains close friendships with all the local crews he has ever used.

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY
(IN THE CAN)

PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT BREAKDOWN AND FINAL CLEAN UP DETAILS

Once the job is over, all costs are receipted and the final invoice which in the 15 years of work has only ever gone over budget once which was due to mitigating circumstance beyond Bill’ control.
